I feel its a body of reference factor. The label which such a lot intently describes my sexuality is bisexual so I move with that. As used to be stated above its simply less complicated than telling persons I have a female friend correct now however used to be relationship a man rather significantly earlier than and discover each guys and ladies sexually beautiful. Of direction its something to label your self and a different if others label you. Right now to many persons I'm a lesbian considering that I'm relationship a different girl, but when we get a divorce and I then begin relationship a person I'll be again to being immediately (considering that in such a lot persons's brain bisexual way relationship men and getting a few at the part from ladies). It might be like a man who dated blondes and obtained classified as best liking blondes after which dated a brunette. Well, he have got to have converted and now best dates brunettes. Right. The extra worrying factor, to me, is the younger age at which persons wish to label themselves as although they realize at 14 how they are going to suppose for the leisure in their lives. They would possibly, however in addition they could detect whatever approximately themselves as they mature. If I had taken a label at 14 and glued to it I might nonetheless be claiming to be immediately. I agree it might be higher if we simply allow persons reside their possess lives with out the labels and next judging, however that is no longer how it is going correct now.

Its part of the reality of language. In language you use sounds(or gestures, pictures, etc.) to symbolize things and ideas. In order to communicate sucessfully with others, you must lump things into symbolic groups. A cat is a cat, no matter if it is black or white, a kitten or a jaguar. You could describe each of the creatures individually, but then you might miss that they are in the same family. Symbols are there for convenience, the reason they group you is because to them, that is the symbolic box you fit in.
Suck it up. You are who you are, and if they cannot see past your appearance, that is their problem. Just be comfortable in yourself and any labels will roll right off. Labels do not define you, you do.

Yea, in a perfect world! People love to label others and point out people who are different from themselves. Many people have this complex where if you're different from them, then you're wrong. Me, I prefer to embrace someone BECAUSE they are different from me, and can maybe teach me something new. I guess people label because usually a certain type of image goes with a person who is into certain kinds of things. Unfortunately, what a person wears can never describe what you have in your heart. Sometimes you just have to give people a chance to get to know you and let your personality shine!

We label for survival. Primitive, it may be. But it is how we find our own groups. Something to identify with so that we fit into something more predictable, more stable. And we judge others only because we are not willing to judge ourselves. It is not needed anymore, yet society has been designed this way. And, indeed, even our economy thrives off of it. Competitive fashions. How could this be possible were it not for all of these groups trying to overstate their presence?
For those who label and wish to be labeled, they have no sense of true self just yet. As for myself, I tend always to wear black. Not because I wish to be labeled as a goth or a punk or anything of the sort, but because I feel more comfortable wearing dark colours. I find that I feel a sense of protection when I wear this colour, and so my fashion is rather emotionally based. But you will not find me wearing baggy jeans, chains or spiked jewelry. I think I do have a sense of fashion, but it is of my own creation, and not something you would see on a maniquin somewhere. Still, I choose to be myself, to do things my way, not because I am trying to be different, but because I am different, and I am happy about that. I am me, and like no other.
Indeed this is likely true for the majority of society, only they don't follow my thinking, and so they choose to conform to labels and stereotypes and will do anything to fit, including do what ever they can to stand out.
I wander what society would be like if everyone did just try to be themselves and stopped judging others based off of his or her clothes taste in music etc. Could we all get along, or would we all just go back to conforming again?

Because in our society we have self-obsessed people who are like extremely judgemental. i believe that this is because our current society is WAY TOO OBSESSED WITH APPEARANCES and judging people to look beyond the outside and find what TRUELY matters...what's on the inside! And people are quick to judge because of most people DON'T look beyond the first impression and can get REALLY cruel about certain people...or uh STERIOTYPING would be a WAY better way to put that! lol and i also think that when we label someone, we do it because of the tiny 5 seconds where you feel superior to the person...that and also because most LIVE off of putting others down and judging others to make THEMSELVES bennefit and dont even think about who they hurt aloong the way...so we basically do it for self empowerment! =/ and at this rate, our society is going to be NOTHING in a few...and i DO wish everyone would STOP all of the judging...its not like as if its like 1772!((and it may be hard for some people to have their own style because they fear what others are going to think of them and they just want to fit in!))

You actually sound alot like me. I was having a conversation about this very topic with a friend, who happens to be asian. I was talking about how people label me, because i wear black/denim every day, so they label me as goth or emo. I was saying how I feel like a product at acme, or in the supermarket. He replied that people label him as 'smart, geeky, etc', because he's Asian. Now, he calls me 'Fat Emo Girl', and I call him 'Asian Shopping Cart', aka-labels. Iam also going to purchase a shirt, where, written across the chest, it says "Label", where on other shirts, it would say "Princess" or "beautiful" or something.

I think people tend to label other people because they want to understand their world. They feel (unconsciently) that if they figure out what group of people someone belongs to they can tell what to expect from that person. Of course that's not true. But, everyone wants to feel like they understand people and have some idea of what they are likely to do next.

True people always feel like they have to judge you and don't even know you. I don't like it when people do that either. Just because you dress a certain way doesn't mean you're any more or less than the next dude.

Because that's how some people are but you can't change it because some people dont want to change and it's basically human nature everyone judges one another and we can't do a thing about it even if you wanna change it people are going to judge who ever they like because we're not in charge of them they do what they want and judge who they wanna judge no matter how much you wanna change it all you can do is deal with it
