My original question was what is the best way to store DVD's. Everyone told me how they store them, standing up, the way I've been doing it, because it's easier. I'd like to know if anyone knows the CORRECT way to store them. I read somewhere that they should be stored laying down in their jewel case but I don't remember where. I know VHS tapes should be stored standing up in their case, but I'm not sure about DVD's. Does anyone have a definitive answer?

***THEY MAKE CABINETS AND SHELVES FOR STORING DVDS AND CDS. I ALWAYS KEEP MINE IN THE ORIGINAL JEWEL CASES. I DON'T AGREE WITH THESE PEOPLE THAT TAKE THE CDS AND DVDS OUT OF THE JEWEL CASES AND PUT THEM IN NOTEBOOKS. NOTEBOOKS ARE FOR TRAVEL PURPOSES ONLY, NOT FOR PERMANANT STORAGE. I USE THE CABINETS AND STORE THEM STANDING UP.***

I doubt if it really makes any difference, I've got 40 year old cassette tapes and records that have been stored the wrong way for decades and they still play. By the time it has taken long enough to make any difference (if it ever will) we will be able to get any recording off the web instantly or something the size of your fingernail will have replaced them, so pile 'em high and don't worry too much!
