Well, I would say, from experience, that it is easier to make a stranger smile.
From experience because when you say a sweet 'hello' to a strager walking down the street....they smile and say 'hello' back as well.
And...it is easier to make a loved one laugh as well. Because...as we have usued the word LOVEd one...then obviously the easier emotion would be the positive emotion.
Happy motivations are always easier.
The HARDEST among the four would be to make a LOVED one cry. Why?
Because it will likely involve a great deal of perfidy in it.

Well, it would of course be easier to make a stranger frown and a loved one cry, since it seems that the human species has a propensity to negative feelings.

Working to make the stranger smile and a loved one laugh, though tougher to do, will end up working better in the long run.

The hardest would probably be to make a stranger smile.

I believe it is easier to make a stranger smile and easier to make a loved one cry. Both laughter and frowning require more effort. We touch the souls of those we love in a very special and sensitive place, and so can bring from them either tears of joy, or tears of pain, or simply tears of remembrance with the slightest provocation, while laughter takes the interplay of more things to bring it forth. A smile is simple and is contagious, it takes more muscles to frown. A frown is an expression like a smile, and usually transient. Laughter I would have to say is the hardest.

Much easier to make a stranger smile. I make people smile everyday....even if I have to squeeze it out of them. I don't engage in road rage or with 'angry strangers'. But, ultimately, you know, you can't control people, can't know how their feeling, and many times, their anger about something gets misdirected onto you. So, sometimes I make them frown, but more often than not, I make people smile. My smile is contagious....uhhhh, if I do say so myself ;-).

Much easier to make a loved one laugh. I could never imagine making a loved one cry. So, I think this would be the hardest one. My sister and I butt heads a lot, but I always relent if I feel as though I'm making her sad. It's just not worth the pain it causes me...or her. I love her even though we don't see eye to eye, in the same way as some of my other family members, and I would hate to cause her any pain, for any reason. Better that I frown than for her to frown :-).

I'm not very sure about a stranger or which one is the hardest but I do know that the easiest of them all is to make a loved one cry! Just happened to me today! You can make a loved one laugh as much as you want but the tears do tend to come easier because they take everything you say at heart and every single word of yours means a lot. Whenever you're speaking to someone you love just remember not to hurt them as you'll be hurting their soul! Don't make them weep because part of you will be weeping too! Laugh your life away with them and shower them with as much love as you can offer as once those stabbing words get through it's very hard to get them back!
(I'm sorry Fluffy for having brought tears to your eyes; something that I promise I would never let happen again! I won't cause those tears and neither will I allow anyone else to do so! :-) Sourire...) :-)

Enki Enki interesting question indeed hahaha hmmmmmm I think it depends on the person making the others (Stranger) (Loved) one react to you in what ever fashion as someone said above about driving I was stuck in traffic for two hours I reached my destination got off the highway and another friend called me and I was ranting and raving about what a heachache Had and what a nightmare the traffic was and this taxi driver smiled and said its not that bad your here now hahaha and smiled at me and so did his passenger in the car I was cracking up. For me unless the person has no emotions and I have met people strangers to some extent I get a reaction every time hahaha I am very dramatic this is why I need to take an acting class hahaha I can make anyone smile and even perfect strangers hahaha and my family and friends they always crack up its all about personality and than some hahahaha to make a stranger cry would be hard but I have done that too hahaha not in bad way of course a neighbors dog hurt its knee and I had heard it about from another neighbor and when i saw her and her dog I ran over to hug her dog and be supportive and as I was talking to her dog she had tears in her eyes and that touched me I said a prayer for her doggie and she's doing alot better and lymping less my heart went out to her because of my little doggie :)))

It's easier to make a Loved one Laugh or cry, than a Stranger, because a Stranger does not know you, or trust you, but a Loved one does. It is not easy to make a Loved cry, than smile.

Hi Enki

Its definitely easier to make a stranger smile. Something simple like smiling yourself, holding a door open or a little "Good morning" can put a smile on ones face! To make somebody frown its normally harder, because their thoughts and opinions don't have as much importance. You haven't learnt to trust what they're saying yet..

Its definitely easier to make a loved one cry because - every word as KT perfectly stated means a lot...You've learnt to trust what their telling you...The truth can be painful at times...
KT, don't worry about today...Svp...You didn't mean any harm, and I apologise for being so sensitive! SOURIRE! :-}

Personally, its harder for a stranger to make me frown! Take for example, somebody walked down the street and I bumped into them and spilt their coffee...They may say "You idiot, look what you've done..Your such a horrible person!" - although I may frown, my facial expression won't be synchronised with that of the inside (I won't be frowning on the inside)...Because I know that the person has judged me on one little thing, and they don't know me at all!

Anyway..
Thank you for yet
another beautiful
question!

Don't you think it depends a lot on the person doing the "making?" If you have a happy countenance, you SHINE.
(Oh, sorry, not good CAPITALId but okay to misspell--that one gave me a laugh!) A sincere smile is contagious. I especially like to make people smile/laugh when I can see they're feeling glum, & they always respond. (Strangers.) I honestly don't remember making anyone frown, or even wanting to. As for people I love, it is VERY (!) easy to make them laugh. The only time someone cried was when I broke up with them, but I don't take responsibility for that. The response was up to them. I can't answer the "sub" question since it doesn't apply to me.

It's all easy. All one has to do, usually, is be honest. But whilst strangers can take pot luck (their feelings are their own problem, not mine), I'd rather make my loved one laugh. Perhaps of the four it's hardest to make a stranger smile, but I have a lot of fun doing it in shops and in doctor's waiting rooms - selectively, of course.
