Sincere hospitality, hands down. It doesn't matter if one lives in a hovel or a mansion. There is no substitute for good manners and genuine kindness.

I just want to know I can have a nice visit. I'm impressed if kids aren't climbing cupboards and throwing fits. ( have a friend like this ) It's not a good visit and I don't go anymore.

How well maintained it is. Having an up kept home is a way to impress any one. Specially if you are going to school working and taking care of kids.

What imprsses me most when visiting someone in theirhome is being in their company and enjoying the conversations, laughter,or seriousness of what may be on their mind...i dont visit their house and check to see if it may meet a particular standard or of judgement, but that of them as real people and being invited to their domain, and observing their tastes and learning more of them through that observation,as with their person.

How the house smells. Seriously, I smoke, and you'd never, in a million years know it. I have a hard time getting comfortable in a place that smells dodgy.
