LOL i have had a 3-1/2 year long bladder infection, no matter what meds i take or am given by a doc, they are always saying I have a bladder infection. I cant firgure it out and niether can they, i am at the point that i havent taken any medications, it deosnt help, and as long as my kidney isnt hurting, im not worried... I dont get any discharges that would indicate a problem, maybe my chemistry is off... I wouldnt take any medications that a doctor hasnt perscribed with the knowlage of a pregancy, some medications are not safe to take during pregnancy, and i would have a doctor perscribe you a more aggresive antibiotic... there is nothing you can do to prevent it except change your underwear 2 times a day, and keep that area VERY clean.. oh and no more sex AT ALL, untill baby is born..., thats about all i can say.. though that is an insane regimend in my book.

I have had numerous bladder infections. They are very painful.
I am glad you are seeing your Dr. tomorrow. The symptoms are excessive urge to urinate, some blood in urine (maybe)
also you will get in there to go but only a little will come out. What does come out may burn terribly.
You can have what's called bladder spasms too, they feel like true labor pains. I have a nerve damaged bladder and have to self-cath every day due to it doesn't empty all the way. Before I didn't know what was wrong with me, I was getting UTI's all the time with horrific bladder spasms that make you strain. Do not strain if this is happening to you!!!! Stand up as soon as the urge hits you to strain, especially since you are pregnant and the uterus sits on the bladder.
You can also have a low grade fever and lower abdominal discomfort. Until tomorrow try and drink as much water as you can. People tell you to drink Cranberry juice but they have found out that it doesn't really work like they thought for this infection. It's acidic and anything acidic can cause more burning when you urinate. l hope this helps you and if you get really bad tonight, go to an E.R. It's not worth suffering with.
Good Luck!

Yes!!! With my second child I had it all the time. Due to the fact that I was pregnant I could only take amoxycillin. Well it turned into a much worse situation when I thought I was going into labor at 5 and 1/2 mos. I went to the ER and was admitted to the hospital and tests were done and they told me I had a twisted (cant remember what it is called) my pee tube was twisted is what they said. So they did more testing and it actually ended up being kidney infection because the amoxycillin was not working to kick the bladder infection! I got hooked up to IV fluids to flush my system and had a catheter. Not fun! When I was having all the pain it felt just like labor! Very painful and it would come and go. When the pain would stop I was so tired that I fell asleep immediately! It was very scary but thankfully it all turned out fine and I had a beautiful dark haired baby girl! 8# 4 oz. Hopefully it will all turn out for you! Good Luck!!! Congrats!!

I went to the hospital saturday night b/c i thought i had a uti/bladder infection. turns out i had a yeast infection, which apparently is common in pregnant women, and up until now ive never had one in my life. the symptoms for uti/bladder infections include: burning while urinating, scanty (little) urine able to come out, pain in the genital area around the urethra, pain possibly in the lower abdomen around the pubic bone. you might also have an a fever, and if u do, that is a def. sign of infection. good luck and get that taken care of...it sux on a normal day..it must really suck when u are pregnant :)

I had SEVERAL UTIs while pregnant. I had burning when peeing, and sometimes I couldnt pee at all. I also had stomach cramps. Those was my main side effects.I had one ever OB appointment. It is very normal. They give you an antibiotic that is safe for you and the baby. If you get more than 3 they will put you on a preventative medicine...
Ways to prevent a UTI:
After intercourse wash immediately.
Dont take baths, take showers.
Wipe from front to back.
Eliminate cokes and drink as much water and cranberry juice as you can...
These were somethings that REALLY helped me... I used to take baths ALL THE TIME!!! I am not trying to go into detail, just wanted to give you some info... GOOD LUCK AND EARLY CONGRATS!!

i know my mom had uti's when she was pregnant with me..i know if it is a bladder infection they will have you pee in a cup and then have it tested. and i know the same thing with uti...ummm with a bladder infection..you will go pee and when you are done it will feel like you have to pee more but cant and it will burn at the end of your pee. uti is when you constantly itch down there and cant get it to stop..i am about 6 or 7 weeks and i thought i had one and i drank nothing but cranberry juice for 3 or 4 days. you can also get the cranberry vitamins and it will help protect you from future bladder infections. just for a little extra info..

Yes I had both at different times during my pregnancy. The only reason that I found out I had them was the pain was so bad that I thought I was having miscarriages. Which I have had in the past. My UTI got so bad that I was put in the hospital. It sent me into premature labor. They had to give me a steroid shot to develop my daughters lungs because they couldn't stop the labor a second time. Yes, I said a second time. The bladder infection started me into labor 2 months early. They put on me strict bed rest and then the UTI started a month later. They decided she was safe to be born 37 days early. So I would have to say you really need to talk to the doctor right away.
My daughter turned out just fine. Just celebrated her 8th birthday 6 days ago.
Good luck to you.

When I was about 12 weeks pregnant I started cramping, I was doubled over in pain and thought I was going to miscarriage. It was a frightful experience. When I got to the hospital they determined that I had a urinary tract infection. They kept asking all these questions about my bathroom experiences, was their burning etc, there wasnt any of that, for me. The only symptom was the extreme abdominal cramping. They treated me, with antibiotics as I recall, and I was fine. Hope this offers some insight. They are very common among women who are pregnant.

Yes I had one at about 14 weeks. I'm glad you are going tomorrow. They can actually cause you to go into pre-term labor if not taken care of. I didn't burn at all. Just had to pee a lot, which I thought was due to the pregnancy. I went to the ob because I was having some menstral like cramping. Come to find out I did have a little blood in my urine. They gave me an antibiotic and all the cramping went away w/in 2 days. Doing great now and 32 weeks. Good luck tomorrow. Don't worry, just know that it's great that you caught it... and if you don't have one, big deal... it's best to check!

i apparently had one at the beginning of the pregnancy, although i had no symptoms at all. but my doctor gave me some medication to take everyday for two weeks and it went away. i guess it's easy for a uti to go unnoticed because the symptoms are quite close to what you already get when you're pregnant... like, the frequent urination and pressure on your bladder and stuff.
my dr. just told me to tell my husband to keep his hands off or wash them for five minutes if he wanted to do any fun stuff.. and to brush his teeth and use mouthwash for other things... because it was likely that's how i got it. and apparently that's how many women get them. soooo... just drink lots of cranberry juice... it'll be gone soon. :)
