i want to put an Intel Pentium 4 3.0E GHz 800MHz 1MB Socket 478 CPU into an emacines t2042.

To Actually answer your question. According to Intel, the P4 800MHz FSB package will not likely work on your motherboard (According to Emachines, your motherboard employs the Intel 845GL chipset):

it looks like the best processor you can throw in there is:

On the other hand, maybe Intel has a bios update you could get to put at least the 533MHz FSB Celeron D's in there. I'd give 'em a call to see!
