"Alexis" is a beautiful name..."Alyksis" is not. Looking at the name Alyksis I can't even begin to imagine how to pronounce it without your explanation. Alyksis looks horrible and very trashy. That poor poor baby. And that poor baby will turn into a toddler, then be in school...can you imagine having "Alyksis" being your name your entire life?!? That's just wrong to do. Hopefully your BF's sister will change her mind about the spelling and go with the beautiful classy version...Alexis is much MUCH better!

That poor baby. Not only do I agree that it looks white trash (sorry!) but I also think it looks like the baby's parents can't spell.

It just looks like a bunch of scrambled letters that you can only relate it to being a name after a few minutes. Why not name it alexis that way she will find little favours with her name on them. Plus this way it is pronounced licks instead of lecks which i dont think flows well.

I don't think it is trashy, I think it is a bit stupid. She just wants to be (in an over dramatic, dreamy voice) "different, and unique, but still have a little bit of a normal name". It looks like her name is Aliksis. I agree with you, in that she should not change the spelling. That is just... you know....... stupid, and immature, to want to be different, in a "not different" way.

Yes, I agree with you. Alexis is a lovely name, but spelling it in such a horrendous manner is trashy, and indicates a low level of education. Stick with the traditional spelling. But, of course, there may be nothing that you can do.

I'm sorry for the baby. It just looks silly. Maybe she will get tired of it when she is older and change it to the more traditional spelling. (After all, she's never going to find a personalized key chain with "Alyksis" on it!)

I think it's butchering the spelling of an otherwise lovely name.
I also foresee problems of spelling and pronunciation in this child's future. Poor kid.

Don't worry about it too much tho, trust me in about 6 years from now little Alyksis will change it herself to Alexis.
