if you are familiar with this song will you please tell me what the message is in it? i cannot tell if joan is trying to say that "yeah god is great BUT..." or "GOD IS WONDERFUL BLAH BLAH BLAH." i dont know. will you please fill me in?

I think she's trying to convey the idea that we could be interacting with God and wouldn't know it, so we need to treat each other better. I could be wrong though. I like the song "What if God Smoked Cannibis" better.

I think she trying to say there is god in everyone, treat everybody the way you'd like to be treated. I think the overall message is good, like "What if god was one oof us, just a slob like one of us, just a stranger on the bus trying to make his way home!"
