How indeed! Shakespeare, in most of his plays, dealt mainly with flawed characters. What were the flaws in Romeo? Many. A bipolar overly self indulgent fellow who sought to evade the problems of life rather than confront them. Juliets' only flaw was that she was too overwhelmed with romantic ideals of love to think clearly. And, in the end, when she couldn't achieve her objective, she refused to confront the realities of life as well. Though we are all captivated by the beauty of the words from these two star crossed lovers it is important to remember the underlying theme. Youth, in all it's glory, lacks the wisdom gained by experience to be able to adequately deal with the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.

Young love is intense, and while as adults we think long and hard about who we love and what they're about in terms of a relationship to make sure that's the person we want to be with (most times anyway), young love is only focused on that one person, and they will do everything in their power to be with that one, and if they can't be with that one, well then, life isn't worth living. It's kind of like when a young girl or young guy thinks their life is over early in school because the person they like likes someone else or they asked someone out and they turned them down...until they fancy someone else and they learn that there's more fish in the sea, as it were.
In Romeo and Juliet, it was that first feeling of love on sight. They were only about 13-14 year old children. I don't know how old you are, but think to when you had your first experience with love, if any, and how it made you feel. If you can do that, then it can help you apply it to Romeo and Juliet.
Hope that helped!

Think back to High School. Do you remember your first crush? What about your first significant other? How did it make YOU feel to be with that person? You wanted to spend all the time you could together, right? You never wanted to have anything get in the way of your folks love, right? Well, there you have the basics of this play. See, Romeo and Juliet can't be together because of their respective families and their respective friends in their families. So they love in secret, get married in secret and then die in secret(despite a few "gee, we thought they were BOTH dead" moments by their parents) too. In young love you feel as if you would rather be dead than to be separated for even one minute of time. And that's part of the reason that Shakespeare wrote this great play. Ever see the movie "A Bronx Tale" by chance? It's a modern version of this play you know.

I don't know, Romeo and Juliet love each other soo much that one can't live without the other? Actually the whole idea of Romeo and Juliet is completely far fetched to me, I mean who the heck falls in love in one second and after a few hours or minutes go straight to marriage?

I think it's because Romeo and Juliet were so young, they often reacted with their hearts instead of their heads. Romeo and Juliet is a tragic love story! the kind everyone in their deepest hearts truly wants to have. To know He would die for you, great!
After all you have to remember it's a fairy tale. And yet because they were so young they truly did love very deeply. They hadn't been heart-broken and jaded. Their veiws of love were still pure. Therefore why continue living when the only love you'd ever known was gone? Think back to the very first time you truly fell in love and the way you felt when it was over? you felt like dying. . .didn't you?

The suicides have been a results of a tragic fake effect. The suicides have been extra regarding the character of "tragedy" in a play than to the character of youthful love. The tragedy became no longer because of the affection, yet extremely because of the hatred of the fans' families. Tragedies in many circumstances are tragic because of the fact they are so preventable, yet frequently led to by way of some deadly flaw in somebody's character. The deadly flaw, to that end, became hatred between families. Romeo and Juliet knew that their families ought to no longer abide their union, so as that they tried to faux a death and run off mutually. It became a wrong effect that led to the 1st suicide, and neither needed to stay without the different.

i think it highlights the fact that those two young children didn't fully understand love. most importantly, they didn't communicate well. good communication is the keystone of any positive relationship. after that, they went against their parents' wishes (even if they were unfounded), they snuck around, they only knew each other for a very short time and didn't know each other, there was a high level of sexual attraction (important, but the first thing to go in a life long relationship), and they threw hissy fits and committed murder and suicide instead of acting in a mature fashion, waiting, working to get their parents to understand.
i think romeo and juliet is a good example of how NOT to run a relationship.

We all dream of the perfect love, handsome and all, just the idea of dying for someone you love. Yet some of us don't understand love, we've nevber felt it. We just like the idea. It gets old to the young and they just toss it around like a salad.
Romeo and Juliet didn't mean jack to me. Just shows how much of a *p*ussy you are at not being able to cope with your love gone.
Love is suppose to make you grow. Not end in misery. PLus Shakesphere is a fake.
He didn;t use his own ideas. I think few young children, or youngens really understand true real love.
