Xrays. A good radiologist can pick out details such as fractures, etc.

Go to the doctor first thing tomorrow morning. Usually if it is broken you will have very little movement. Is it swelled? Is it bruised?
It sounds like a fracture or strain... your doctor will order an x-ray and the radiologist will be able to tell what it is.. even down to the smallest details.
For now.. keep ice on it... even if it isn't swelled. Then try heat... then decide which one works better. Once you decide, keep it on there all the time until you go to the doctor.
Tip - get off the computer.. that won't help heal it. :)
Good Luck

Only way to know for sure is to have your hand xrayed. Go to your doc or the emergency dept at your local hosp. If its broken/sprained they'll tell you what needs to be done. Dont ingnore a broken bone, if it heals in a bad position it can leave you with movement problems in that area for life.

Me after the number of injuries I've had I'd be able to tell at the time of the injury if something broke. Since there is uncertainty it's probably not broken. Want too fix it fast?

if you can flex all of your fingers fully out, is the best test. if you can, you most likely dont have a broken bone/fracture. if you cant...well just wait awhile and see if the swelling goes down...and maybe ask professional advice.
