Worms, bacteria, and other decomposers turn it into other forms of energy and eventually into heat. Order goes to disorder (entropy). It's the way of the universe.

Physically....the electrical signals are absorbed in the tissue causing heat, which is then released as the body itself cools.

The chemical reactions simply stop taking place, and also cool.

The overall body heat is given up to the atmosphere and thru contact with any surfaces the body happen to be laying or resting on.

It sits there as chemical energy, mostly in the form of fats and proteins, to be chewed on and converted to other forms of work by the chemical action of bacteria, worms stomachs (or whatever worms have) and anything else that chooses to eat you.

All energy in the body is coming from cell metabolism and that continues even after death. Only new cells are not produced. Existing cells continue to exist and decay.
