It's on espn everynight. They got the bonds count, sosa count, then griffey count, then thomas count going.

People are paying little attention to Thomas because 500 home runs just isn't what it used to be. It used to be that 500 was a number that few got to, now 500 HR's is the new 400.
Think about this. There are currently only 20 players with more than 500 homeruns. 5 of those players got there within the last 10 years (Mcgwire, Bonds, Griffey, Sosa and Palmeiro). There are also 5 more players that should get to 500 within the next 3 years (A-Rod, Sheffield, Thomas, Thome and Delgado). It also should be noted that Andruw Jones, Pujols, Vlad, Carlos Lee, and David Ortiz look to be strong candidates to enter the 500 HR club as well.
I mean come on, it took 100 years to get the first 15 guys into the 500 HR club, and within the next 25 years you get 15 more? Thats just rediculous.
Let it be known....500 just isn't that great anymore.

because frank thomas is a DH...honestly he doesn't have to play in the field and he doesn't run much at all. All he does is hit home runs. Also sosa took a year off and made a huge comeback and that is why he got all this coverage. It also hurts thomas that he is in toronto where you don't get much tv coverage anywhere in the states...has to suck to be him right now...I bet you once a-rod comes with in 2 hrs. of 500 (which he is at 492) there will be coverage all over the place cause he is in NY...just watch

Good question.
For some reason, Thomas just seems to be one of those players that the press doesn't cover; he had a few off years, but his numbers are AMAZING.
I guess maybe one thing is that he has never really played for a team that is a big "Media darling" I mean, the White Sox get some coverage, but not like the Indians or Tigers. The Athletics are pretty popular, but not like the Mariners or Angels, and the Blue Jays are nowhere near Yankee, Red Sox, or Oriole status. Might be one reason I guess.
I like him though, big fan of Griffey too. I hope they keep on hitting 'em out...

Toronto is a small baseball market. Anything outside Boston, LA, or NY gets very little coverage. Thomas gets forgotten in Toronto, just like Wells, Rios, Halladay, Burnett, even though they are a solid team.

Frank Thomas is not a has-been, he's a never was.
During the 90's. he was supposed to lead the White Sox to the promised land.,
It never happened. While he has some tremedous stats, he never impressed me as a team leader.
He's one pof the few remaining of a White Sox champions-on-paper team, which never really did put it together.
