The Lobster, next to the Santa Monica Pier is very nice
Gladstone's on PCH and Sunset is good
but go up to the Oxnard/Channel Islands Harbor to the Lobster Trap at the end of Peninsula Road - the best!

The Lobster or Ocean Avenue Seafood or The Fish Company in Santa Monica. Or Gladstones in Malibu.

The San Pedro Fish Market in San Pedro. It's not anything fancy but the food is really good and the dining room is a big patio overlooking the Los Angeles Harbor. And it's fun to just sit there and eat your dinner while watching the ships go by. Also the food is cooked to order so it's always very fresh.

Gladstones is nice, especially since it is right on the water. For better food I would suggest Enterprise Fish Company in Santa Monica (or Santa Barbara). Simpy the best seafood!

My favorite is Gladstone's of Malibu, 17300 Pacific Coast Hwy, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272
http://www.gladstones.com/
Very good selection, very good atmosphere.
The Sand Castle, recently renamed "The Paradise Cove Beach Cafe" in Paradise Cove is also excellent, but the access road is steep and winding, and if you aren't careful they'll charge an access fee. Make sure you get your parking validated.

My wife and i love seafood, we go out to eat sea food every week.
If you want a good one kind of in the "outback steakhouse " style with lots of stupid crap on the walls and a fun atmosphere there's a place called "Joe's Crab Shack" in hermosa beach. Around it you'll find more elegant eateries with higher prices and more ambiance if that's what you're looking for.

Not in L.A. but if you are in Newport, Orange County go to The Crab Cooker. Paper plates, plastic forks and grilled seafood. I don't care for Mannhatten Clam chowder but there's is about the best you will ever get. If you have to wait to get in, likely on weekens it is worth it.
