Few weeks ago I bought a Tetra Whisper 10 Power Filter for my baby RES turtle. It was working fine for the first couple weeks but this week the water has become cloudy. The guy at the petstore just said "make sure you rinse the filter out every few days" so I have been. However, the filter is now all dark and heavy at the bottom when I take it out and the water is getting cloudy after I just changed it 2 days ago.
I'm wondering.. do I have to buy replacements? or what do I do to keep the water clean.... idk any tips can help! Where can I find the replacements if I do need them? I didnt see any at the pet store

thanks!

LOL! ANY new filter makes cloudy water in the first week or two as the biological filtration media grows- it probably mentions this in the filter's instruction manual.

Washing and replacing it all the time is delaying the process!

i own two baby res! but they are one yrs old by today. if i were you, i would not feed them in the tank . they are VERY messy eaters.!! get a container with out a lid, and fill it up with water, then feed them their food there(sepretly if you have two). and the stronger your filter, the less you will have to clean the tank. but every week, you should washit or just take the water out. i have a powerful filter, so i wash mine every three weeks.
good luck
