What would win in a one-on-one battle, a ninja, or a pirate?

I want to know using any possible abilities, weapons, or advantages.

The Ninja... without any doubt ;);)

* Throwing stars are 100x quicker than a pistol (and there's NO reload time).
* Katanas tend to be much sharper than Cutlasses/Rapiers.
* Kung Fu vs. simple bare-knuckle fighting.
* The nimble climbing/jumping skills of the ninja would allow him to sneak up/ambush the pirate with little difficulty.

And depending on the "type" of ninja - things such as poisoned blades, smoke bombs, and even invisibilty can come into play...

Imagine a barrage of shurikens from the crow's nest, followed by a tight-rope walk to a position behind the pirate - and then a skewering (by katana) from the back (or perhaps garotte wire)...

Hm... a pirate would be pretty merciless, but a ninja is trained to be fast and violent. Pirates are probably stronger, but ninjas are more accurate.

Ah, but the pirate has probably been drinking, so his reflexes are impaired, and the ninja wins.

definitely the ninja. ninjas are way quicker than pirates. pirates sword fight and theyre slow. ninjas are really fast and use they secret cool abilities like pressure points to make people faint ninja all the way. i'm not dissing pirates though

the ninja would win, assuming that the pirates r really pirates from of the high seas, i dont think they would b all that smart. sure, some of them were, but most were just cowardly thieves, roaming the seas in there mutinous gangs. ninjas would have had better preparation, would have taken better care of themselves, and would have had much more training.
