Maybe in the afternoon when you're not extremely busy that's the time you think a lot over something. Just keep going, occupy yourself of something.

It may actually be hypoglycemia and not depression. Try eating small meals (a carb with a protein) every 2-3 hours and see if this helps.
I had extreme fatigue and the blues in the afternoons and this is what they came up with for me, and now that I eat properly, I feel great!
Check out these two sites I've found for you, and look up some more on Insuline Reactive Hypoglycemia.
A simple change in what you have for lunch, and adding a couple of snacks, just might be a cure.

Take an afternoon nap. Seriously it works. Do not drink tea or coffee during the day as well. At 4 P.M.? Have a coffee or a tea. But only at or around 4 P.M. that is the best time for a shot of caffeine.

Sounds to me like your morning meds wear out at noon, and your evening meds kick in the evening. If you're not taking meds, you should be. Deep depression? Or are you just cranky because you're sleepy? I feel bad around noon and have to go take a nap (of course, I feel bad most of the time).

Or, maybe it's what you're eating. Your body likes what you have for breakfast=lots of energy, but it's allergic to something for lunch or snack=sudden drop, and your evening meal is great, too=one happy boy. Try moving your meals around, and see if you feel better.

Are you sure you don't have diabetes? Because if you're loading up on calories in the middle of the day, that could cause depression.

Does something happen, every day, mid-day that brings you down? Someone calls and dumps on you? Sales reports come in too low? You eat with someone with marital problems? Try to trace the depression to a source, something that makes you feel bad.

Good luck. This is like a very intricate puzzle, and I hope you solve it with a minimum of effort.

If it's actually a medically defined "deep depression" consult your doctor immediately. In the past I've found that consuming too much caffeine or too much sugar in the morning has given me those lethargic, tired symptoms in the afternoon.

Hey, track yourself and find out what exactly is going on in the afternoon and address that.
Food, people, place, thoughts, memory triggered of a certain afternoon and other things could play a part in your depression. Look for its cause and get rid of it.

You have to be happy 100% of the day? I'd suggest you quit being so self aborbed and whiney and come up with a REAL problem.
