Any laptop with a usb port or a ps/2 port (like on the back of the old style mices) will take one. I would recommend USB because there are normally no ps/2 ports on the newer laptops and ps/2 is old techology, a usb mouse will be useful longer on other computers I'm sure.

if your laptop has a free USB port then just use a mouse that connects with that connection (most if not all laptops have that.) If not then you most likely need the PS/2 style mouse. It would help to know what model laptop you have but I hope that this helps anyways.
here is a picture of a USB mouse for reference:

and here is a PS/2 mouse:

Very simple, if you cannot find a port to fit your mouse into go to an electronics store such as Circuit city or Radio Shack and find an adaptor that will fit into on of your USB ports.

Yes.
My suggestion is to buy a wireless mouse; Best Buy
It comes with a CD, download it, it will walk you through some steps, and it DOES work.
Hope this helps.

if it has usb ports, yes. (i can almost guarantee that it does).
It could possibly have a PS/2 port as well, but those aren't used much anymore.

yep.
as for usb / ps2 .. don't matter as the decent ones come with a usb/ps2 adapter.. they are dual format.
as for getting a wireless one, forget it, as u need a wireless hub also, more junk..lol
