The consensus right now is that either the Patriots or the Colts will win the AFC. What teams do you think could be sleeper picks to come out in the AFC and why?

For me, two teams come to mind. One is Denver. A young quarterback (cutler), two solid backs and decent recievers on offense..Defensively, a big loss in Al Wilson, but they get jarvis moss and kareem brown in the draft, solidifying an already good defensive line. Dre Bly and Champ Bailey will form one of the most potent DB combos in the league. This team could go far barring injuries.
The second team I would consider a sleeper, the jacksonville jaguars. Look on offense, they have a big physical o-line, big recievers, and two power backs. The strength of that offense could rival any defense in the league. Their defense features the best DT combo (Stroud and Henderson), all pro defensive back Rashean Mathis, Mike Peterson, and rookie Reggie Nelson. Like I said with denver, barring injuries, this team could go far.

First off according to Vegas Lines Colts and Chargers are tied for second to win the superbowl at 8 to 1 odds. But other than that I would say that Jaxonville still has an awesome offense if they use it correctly. But more so than them is Baltimore who did almost nothing but work on their offense. If you remember last year they had the best defense ( i pick them over the bears because of big plays) but a poor offense. Again I don't think they are sleepers though, I think they come in over the colts and chargers.

Broncos are definitely one of them. They will make the playoffs, and if the Colts choke again like they did against the Steelers two years ago, the Broncos can win the super bowl. Denver can beat the Patriots, they have the confidence that not a lot of other teams have against the Pats. The only team Denver will struggle against will be the Chargers, two tough games, and even tougher if they meet in the playoffs.

The other pick for me would probably be the Chargers, although I still think they're a championship caliber team. They can beat the Patriots out of sheer talent and can even give the Colts a run for their money.

Basically, I like the AFC west, maybe the Raiders even might surprise us. :D

I gotta go with "whowethoughttheywere" on this one. Kansas City's defense is going to be vastly improved over last year with two new DTs, Napolean Harris at MLB, they brought back Donnie Edwards at OLB, and they already have a first round pick on the other side in Derrick Johnson. They've improved along the OL as well with the aquistion of Damion McIntosh and Chris Terry playing in the OT spots. They are also adding a young QB in Brody Croyle and a first round pick at WR, Dewaine Bowes from LSU. We already know they have one of the best RBs in the league with LJ...I think they are poised to sneak up on some folks this year.

I think you can make legit claims for the Jags, the Jets, the Steelers(i hope), or the Bengals. I don't like Dick Jauron or Norv Turner as head coaches, so that cancels their teams out. The team that i am intrigued by is Tennessee, in spite of the Pacman mess, losing Travis Henry and Drew Bennett. Jeff Fisher is an underrated coach and Vince Young & Co. were scaring a lot of teams down the stretch last year.

I don't know if you can call them a sleeper because they went 14-2 last year but San Diego is my pick. New England had a huge off-season and looks like they are the favorites but San Diego was the best team last year untill the bowed out of the playoffs early.

sleepers for the AFC....i would say Jacksonville Jaguars, and the other team i would say is the Texans, now i know everyones gonna say well they were one of the worst teams last year, but i think getting matt shwab helped a ton and there defence will improve with there draft picks. i say they might be a sleeper

The browns could be a sleeper if Brady Quinn lives up to the hype, if not it's bargain basement draft for them again... oh wait they don't get first round next year... lucky dallas
