I have been dealing with constant (EVERY DAY) breakthrough bleeding for 6 weeks now. My doc switched be about a month ago to Losetrin 1/20fe, but even after having my period at the end of the pack, it stopped for half a day, came back a bit, then went away again. In order to prevent another 6 weeks of bleeding, my doctor has perscribed me Femcon, a higher does pill. My question is, I have taken the next two active pills of Loestrin already, and my doc said I could swtich right to the Femcon tonight: Will I be protected from pregnancy if I have unprotected sex this weekend? I am going away on vacation, so i really need to know. She said I should use protection just in case, but I should be fine. I need a more definite answer. I take my pills the same time every day, never missing any, and the femcon has the same "ingredients" as the loestrin, so I am thinking I should be ok? Thanks!!

She is switching you to a higher dose pill to control your bleeding, so yes, you are still protected.
It's only a problem if you switch from higher to lower dose, or from a combined pill (estrogen & progesterone) to one that is progesterone only.
Have fun!

If you have not skipped, any, and the dosage is very similar I'd say you are protected. Please make him wrap it though if you don't know him. Who wants to catch a disease on vacation?
