if i was ever on desert island discs i'd like to be smart enough to say instead of using the record player to play records i could do something really clever with it instead...... any ideas ?

Power supply wil be your main problem. You probably have all you need to make a very basic transmitter, but not one that can be heard futher than the palm tree...

maybe reversing the motor into a dynamo to light up your self made log cabin would be a good start !!!!
