Not electricity in the ac/dc sense of the word. They almost certainly were aware of static electricity, as they like us , combed their hair, or slept on static producing materials. Of course awareness of electricity is useless without the technology to utilise it, and although they were aware of the phenomena, they had no application for it.

I thought I saw on TV a long time ago that they found in Egypt, not Rome, a 2000 year old battery. It was a little clay vase and inside there was a piece of copper coiling. The host of the show said that they used grape juice for the acidity to power the battery, but if they used it for anything, I have no idea.

Yeah and I think they had plasma TVs.

It was the Egyptian that founded a very crude form of electrolysis..By using copper wires and copper and clay pottery and raw grapes,and grape juice.................................................................................................
