Like the tuck rule. Or the "you cant hit an undefended receiver rule". The part a hate the most is how the quarterbacks are so protected by rules. Like you cant hit them below the waist or use your helmet on them. i love the game when there are BIG hits back with these rules people get flagged for just playing the game.

I do think that rules are taking away from the game A LOT now a days. Like the whole thing about defenders having to "cradle" the quarterback when they sack them, you can't let all of your weight land on them... THIS IS FOOTBALL!!! Then there is always the no celebrating in the end zone rule... that is just B.S. in its purest form. I also believe they need to calm down on the pass interference and holding calls... they're getting a little too sketchy for my taste. Perfect example was when Jackson (Seattle) got called for "pushing off" of the defender in the Super Bowl last year taking away what should have been a Seattle touchdown.

The rules are there because the players today are so much more athletic than they use to be (don't tell me they aren't because each postion is taking all of the different types and are slowly combing them together running and throwing qbs, big and fast running backs, big and fast tightends, so on). I think that sometimes the refs call stupid penalties that are so close that they could've let go. I think the roughing the kicker/qb and other rules like that aren't bad because the defense can still hit them they just can't deliver any late hits (late hits as in if they can't stop themselves from hitting the qb/kicker becuase they have already jumped are something like that), but I think it's when the player is running straight at the qb, the qb throws, and then the defender can't stop and lays out the qb but is fouled. That is stupid.

HELL YES!! Games are still exciting, far from boring. But everytime where there's a "controversial play" that cost a team the game especially the playoffs, there goes the NFL and the commissioner trying to make things "right". Like the 'tuck rule' being created because the officials got the call wrong on that raiders vs patriots AFC championship game. Or qb's ending their careers prematurely because of concussions. Yup, games used to be alot more brutal=better to catch. Those sick hits linebackers used to put on the qb's were awesome. It definitely 'takes away from the game' , but not enough to make people turn away from it, NOT ME FOR SURE

YES! There are too many rules protecting the offense. For example why is it roughing the QB if you hit him while he is "attempting" to go out of bounds! How the hell does a linebacker figure out whether or not the QB is going to actually step out or cut up field at the last second. With QBs like Vick and Vince Young who can easily cut on a dime it is impossible to know whether they are actually going to step out or not. If you don't want to get hit then just go down and "give yourself up." But as long as you have two feet in the playing field you should be fair game. Defenders shouldn't be punished for what the QB "might" have done with his next two steps.

Yes you cannot hit the quarterback
There is no bump and run any more
If you blow on a receiver as a DB you are penalized.

I agree some of the rles are a bit too strict, but without them QB's would get injured alot easier because people wouldn't hold back as much. One rule that pisses me off is how when a defender dives after a punt or field goal and if he even touches the kicker and the kicker falls he gets the yellow flag. Kickers shouldn't *****, no one is full tackling them.

I don't think they detract from the game, but they are there to keep our favorite players on the field as long as possible. It does limit some of the big hits, but the best hits were already on special teams.... and that isn't very limited. So I don't mind. The only rule I don't agree with is TD celebrations, if Chad Johnson wants to riverdance let him.

Yeah and the Hammer gets himself out of the most important game of his career.
Look, the players are so much bigger, stronger, and faster than they were in "the good old days," and the body can only take so much punishment. Those rules are there for the good of the game and its players in the long run.

Yes especially how the refs call pass interference if you so much as say "boo" to a wide receiver and I do wish refs would ease up on the 50 zillion holding calls per game.
