Shut up Gonzo! lol I chose to keep my distance because I was too mature at the time to fall into the lame cycle of gossip. Theres more to life and I was well aware of that then even though I still had friends :)

My kid is one of the most popular kids in his high school, and he comes from a single parent home, has never met his father who has never paid one dime of child support and, believe me, we are definitely not rich.
It can happen.
Peace

I did in high school. She was actually very poor. Her mother(who was raising her daughter on her own) didn't speak english very well and always had trouble finding work. My mother even gave her mother some money a few times.
This girl was outgoing, very beautiful, and very popular. Everyone loved her. She was vivacious, full of energy, and always had the spotlight. I really admired how positive and friendly she was despite her backgorund.

And BTW, I've met really jacked up people who were from wealthy families. They have their secrets too! Every family does.

Oh yeah! Lots of kids are popular because of their confidence or athletic abilities or maybe their great sense of humor. It's not really about money where I come from. In fact, some of the "outcasts" and "weirdos" were the ones who were rich.

If there have been they are few and far between! The trouble I think, is that it is built into our society to practically worship the wealthy.

I wish that could be changed somehow to " to worship" or at least admire others for what they have done that is good.

You know...come to think of it, no, I don't think I have. They were all from very well-off families. I honestly think that's the difference between popular and un-popular kids. It's all about if you can afford the latest, coolest thing.
