How long do roses and bloom, and when? I have a pink kind of rose bush, that looks something like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Rose_zepherine_drouhin_img_1838.jpg . And I have about 10 rose bushes like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosa_arkansana , but they are not blooming yet, they will next year. How long will these roses bloom, if i cut off the dead blooms and water/fertilize it regularly. What are some other types of roses that has blooms that last for a long time in summer? Tx in advance.

Hi, your first picture is a climber or rambler. Typically these bushes only flower once and the roses can last up to two weeks. You do not have to prune or dead head a climber/rambler unless you need remove or trim a branch for shaping purposes or unless a branch has died. The second picture is an old fashioned 5 petal rose and will bloom continuously throughout the growing season. The roses on this plant will last about 1 to 1.5 weeks. You will need to dead head this rose to a set of 5 leaves after the flower is spent. This will encourage new growth of both foliage and flowers. Manure is the best fertilizer for roses in my opinion but you can get a rose food fertilizer at any garden center. You also don't have to water a rose that is already established more than once a week. I don't know why your roses have not bloomed yet, but they should soon. Here are two of my favorite web sites in which they give detailed descriptions of their roses and if they are once or repeat bloomers.

How Long Do Roses Bloom

The roses on the bush in my backyard never last more than a week before the petals burst off. When I cut them off and put them in a vase, they usually last 3-5 days before I have to replace them.
