What does my girlfriend mean when she asks me if I'm in love with her? I mean, yeah, I love her. She's my best friend and all that. But how do people characterize "in love" as opposed to just "love" in a romantic relationship?

Loved doesnt get sex.
In love does.

Well, when you love someone that means that you accept this person %100 knowing all good qualities and bad qualities. You love that person for who they are and that love is permanent, even if that person hurts you, you still love them. Being in love with someone means that you can be out of love with that someone. If you're in love, it might seems like the greatest thing you've ever felt BUT with time, and in getting to know that person you either love them and accept them the way they are or your feeling eventually fades away and dies.

If you 'love' someone then you have strong feelings towards them. You can hug or give them a play full kiss and don't have any physical attraction to them. If your 'in love' with someone you suddenly are doing all the embarrassing stuff you promised you would never do around anybody. You suddenly feel like a little kid that got all tongue tied in the 2ND grade when he/she talked to you... And deep down you know that even if you don't end up together you will always remember him/her, your first true love.....

If I am in love with someone, I love them. Having said that, just because I love someone does not mean I am in love with them.

"Love" is a big word, that includes all sorts of love each with their own implications.

It is only someone that I am 'in love with' that I will 'make love with'. If I am not 'in love with' them, it's just sex, even if it is very enjoyable sex for everyone invovled.

I love my children. I also love the person I am in love with, and I have a relationship with the person I am in love with that is signficantly different from the relationship that I have with my children.

I am in love with my lover. My lover is my most intimate confidant in every way. I am going to discuss and do things with my lover that I will never do with other people that I love.

Does that help, or do you have a specific scenario in mind?.

I think love is a choice no matter what. Feelings are feelings and love is something that can come easy...so you make a choice to love the person in a committed way. If you don't ...love them from a distance.

I just thought of this one day. When you love someone you love them with their personality and that is it. When you are in love with someone you actually go in them, as in sex :/. That was a really lame answer but you should stop asking questions to which you already know the answer.

you can love someone and not be in love with them. but when you are in love with someone that means you love them and you want to be with them in everyway. Just look at the different people in your life and you will understand many more different types of love for everyone it is not the same
good luck=)

Hello Pretty Kitty.I will give you my opinion. Loving someone doesn't neccessarily include passion. Normally we love our companion, our parents, our siblings, and even our pets. But in loving them we won't be sharing our body. Being in love however means we are totally besotted with someone. We would gladly surrender ourselves to them. We would be theirs for life. Love with all the passion and committment. Sadly there's not much of that around these days.

If you are in love, you can fall out of love. It's more like a strong infatuation. If you love someone. You know that person. You know who they really are and you love them for the good and the bad. You accept them for who they are and so will always love them.

When you love someone, it would be, for example- "I love my new car, or I love my friend, or I love those people in that show. and I love my mom, or I love my daughter.. But when you are in love with someone it goes deeper then just loving them, you want to be with them, you are at your happiest moments when with that someone, you enjoy being with them all the time, and you are compatible with that person, and the whole world doesn't matter as much as it does when your in love.. in love is sooooo much more then just loving some one. understand?

Generally speaking -

You love your family, your friends.

You are IN LOVE with your romantic partner.

Two different kinds of love.
