Have you downloaded Vista drivers from the lexmark website, provided they are available? According to the driver data base it does not show any vista drivers available which would mean its not compatible with vista at this time.

The problem with Vista is that it is not yet compatible with computer peripherals, like printers. My Epson printer doesnt work ith Vista, either. Go on-line to see if there is a Lexmark website and either ask them online or info on your printer compatibility with Vista, or look for a number you can call to do the same.

The Z23 doesn't appear to be Vista compatible. It is not listed on the Lexmark driver page for Vista http://www.lexmark.com/lexmark/sequentialem/home/0,6959,204816596_920309141_0_en,00.html
and the Z23 page on the Lexmark site doesn't list Vista either http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:285:0:0

Lexmark haven't released Windows Vista drivers for the Z23 printer, and it doesn't look as though they're going to. There were drivers for Windows XP, however, so I don't see why you were experiencing problems with that Operating System.

You're RIGHT ! And Lexmark isn't providing a Vista driver for the Z23. Guess what ? Unless you go back to XP or earlier, you have just developed a nice grey plastic paperweight.
Now you know why so many folks are walking away from Vista ?

Welcome to the world of Vista. You don't feel very welcome though do you? Yeah, neither did I when my Lexmark X5270 didn't work and drivers for Vista hadn't been released. You can check the Lexmark website to see if and when they will be releasing Vista drivers for your printer. In the meantime, try installing your printer by selecting a similar driver which IS listed in the built in Vista printers. For example, I was able to get an HP laserjet 1012 to work in Vista by installing it as a laserjet 1100. Experiment if necessary, check Lexmark for drivers, and go from there.

Why are you surprised? Vista has almost no drivers.
Check with Lexmark if they have a driver for your printer for Vista.
If your printer is old, they might not even plan to have it, but check anyway on their web site.

Vista is amazing. It blows all other OS's out of the water. The problem is compatibility right now, with it being brand new. Hopefully your printer company comes out with a Vista driver. Check their site and try emailing them.

Vista has been my worste nightmare. Crashes hourly. Update releases that trashed the computer so that I lost everything and had to reinstall. I wish I never bought it. Good luck. I'm at my wits end with this junk Bill Gates had cheap forign labor build.
