do you pick avatars to match your physicality or your personality, or both?

When my friend & I were choosing Avatars, I tried to create one that resembles my physical likeness the
most out of what you can pick from. My friend however, likes to choose outrageous ones that resemble her personality more than her actual image. just out of curiosity, I wondered how many of you chose avatars for those reasons.

I picked mine to express my religious beliefs.
My avatar is J.R. "Bob" Dobbs, the slack master, that living God who walks in huckster's shoes.

I tried to pick the options that most closely resembles me. In fact, last year, my avatar had short hair because that is how my hair looked. Now that my hair is longer, I changed my avatar's hair length.

But the clothing and background reflect my personality, too. In my avatar pic, I am wearing a sari and in a jungle with a leopard beside me...

although it's nice to pick an avatar that represents both your looks and personality, they may not always have the one you're looking for...or often times our outsides don't always reflect our insides. if i had no other choice but to pick an avatar, i would pick one that best represents my personality. one of the things that will stand out about me most online is my avatar. people will judge me first there. i would want people who have never and will never meet me to know me for me, and not just for my looks. they can fantasize an entire storm about how i look.

I tried to make weemaryanne look like me, only forty pounds lighter. It didn't work.

Now I think she's actually smarter than me. Frankly, I'm a bit scared of her.
