When you're first starting out it may not matter what agency is better than another. You have to see who is interested in you, then you can see if you even have a decision to make. If more than one gency is interested then great! If not, then you go with who will take you. You can always do a 6 month probationary contract so that if either of you are unhappy, you can back out at that time. If things are going well, you sign a more standard 2 year contract. BTW, you never pay an agent until they help you get a role. They get paid when you do.
Before you get to that, you do need more experience. Find some classes and workshops. School stuff is ok to start, but you need to expand your horizons and your resume. Look to local and professional theatre as well. Once you have a couple of decent credits or you land a part that is good enough to invite agents to come watch you play, try getting an agent. Maybe they'd come see you play Huck Finn or something like that.
If you want to find a legitimate agent to represent you for commercials, TV & film go to Sag.org. Use the dropdown menu on the right labeled 'resources' and choose 'agent information'. On the next screen, on the left choose 'Find a SAG franchised agent' and follow the directions. You can look up agents all over the US, but there are higher concentrations where the work is (Los Angeles, NY, IL, FL, GA etc.)
Then you can send them your headshot, resume, and a cover letter stating that you are seeking representation and wait to see if they call you in for an interview.
Once you have an agent, they will get you the auditions, but until then you can check out actorsaccess.com. You can also see if your state has a film alliance. Sometimes they post audition information for projects filming locally. For theatre, you can go to backstage.com or http://www.actorsequity.org/castingcall/... If you find the audition on the Equity site, you still may be able to go, as long as their not taking appointments from equity actor's only :-) On backstage.com you have to pay to get all of the info, but the initial search is free and you may be able to see enough info to find out the rest on your own without paying.
Good luck!

You could try and branch out into the community and do local plays, commercials, infomercials and print work.
To find auditions online look at these webites:
www.craigslist.org
www.mandy.com
Also, look in your local paper or in acting newspapers like Backstage or The Stage.
Once you have bulked up your resume, send that along with your headshot and cover letter to agencies. To find a list of SAG registered agencies in your area, look here:http://www.sag.org/sagwebapp/application...
After 4-6 weeks, an agency should contact you if interested, hopefully then everything will fall into place, you'll get auditions, bookings, showcases, etc.
And that's how you get an acting job!
Good Luck!

Join the Drama Club at school, or take acting lessons at the Community College in your city.
You are not ready for an agent. You need a lot more training, before you pursue trying to get an agent.
First, learn the craft of acting. You are NO where near ready for an agent. An agent wants to see that you performed on stge, in many productions, preferably as a LEAD actor.
Agents want to see the acting roles you have on your résumé. That's all they care about, what you have done in the industry.

School plays don't really count as school experience. Get some acting classes from somewhere outside of your school. Take some simple dance classes and maybe some singing. Don't worry about getting an agent until you're sure you can play with the big dogs.
