I take it that it's a late 1970's K series
That has a manual tensioner
front of the cylinder block in the middle should be a block with 2x 10mm bolts holding it in place.
On the side of this is a 10mm bolt with a 10mm lock nut.
Loosen the lock nut, release the bolt 1/2 a turn.
Turn the engine BACKWARDS 2 turns by the ingition advancer and lock the bolt again.
This is MUCH easier if you take the spark plugs out.

Turn by HAND before starting to make sure everything is OK.
If it rattles more, try it again, these tensioners have a BAD problem with seizing.

Good luck with the old girl

The cam chain on the DOHC 750 is NOT self-adjusting. The locknuts need to be backed off and the screws loosened and re-tightened while the bike is idling. The trouble is that the tensioner springs may be broken, so that this won't work. Also, the tensioner blades may be worn through, even to the point of being in two pieces.

Always give year, make, engine size and model # when asking questions. We need all of that info to give an informed answer.
Different years require different procedures.
Purchase a shop manual.
