Today's vote was just a 'test' vote. It is NOT too late to continue to voice opposition to this bill!! I really had hoped the Repubs would have dug their heels in and stopped this crap. It is just posturing by both sides to garner favor and votes for the upcoming election and to provide cheap labor for big companies and keeping wages down.
Our elected Representatives no longer represent us, they represent the big companies.
I hate taxation without representation.

This bill is so full of loopholes there will be no enforcement necessary. This bill is not an immigration bill, it's an amnesty bill. It's a pork spending bill to buy votes for a scheme to make the party of the poor stronger by making as many poor people as possible. The more poor people they make, the more power they have. When I see turn-coat Republicans voting this way I keep thinking about those stolen FBI files Clinton had and which mysteriously disappeared. It makes no sense unless there is blackmail involved. What is to enforce?

This bill is not aimed at enforcement, nor is there action of implementing current policy. The senate bill is geared toward an unworkable policy which will result in amnesty for millions, and easy immigration for millions more. The question why? Low cost labor force, and driving down wages for all lower wage labor classes, in particular agricultural, construction, and services. The problem with this formula for lower costs of labor, is the incentive it provides employers for hiring immigrants rather than citizens; to differ or escape paying insurance, workers compensation, or benefits of any kind for those they employ. Thus creating an even larger "underground economy" than currently exists. Furthermore, while for a short period these lower costs "may" result in lower prices for these services or products, the longer-term effect will be a significant burden on public goods and services, meaning higher taxes that legal documented citizens and tax payers will bear.
IMO, leave the current failing policy alone, and forget creating a more comprehensive failing policy.

Well you answered the problem that all of Congress can't seem to understand. The also wonder why they can't secure the border when they voted for a fence but it has never been built. Answer for a problem most time is not more laws but enforcing the ones that are there. But if congresses main job is to legislate law then if they can't make up more useless laws it doesn't look like they are doing anything,,,,, makes you wonder if they really are

When 20 million people come into a country without an invitation its called an Invasion. The persons in the White House and Senate that support the invasion should be put in jail with other war time criminals.

We are able to enforce our immigration laws. We just cannot get the President and his administration to do it.
The new Senate bill is pathetic.

We won't. If existing laws aren't enforced the new ones won't be either. They passed a fence bill-where is it?
There is an agenda that explains it all.
NAU- the new extra constitutional regime.

The Senate bill is a joke. Both sides are just doing it so various members can claim bipartisan cooperation in the 2008 elections.
They are screwing the American people with this half-baked bill.

You are so naive. No one has any intention of enforcing the immigration laws. The intent is to merge the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
