I haven't read anything, but I'd be curious to know. They exchanged some nasty insults years ago, when the fatwa was issued on Rushdie, if you recall. I don't much care who's right and who's wrong. I only know I prefer LeCarre as a writer.

Wow - I had no idea. Thanks for the question. I just read the bitter exchange of letters in the Guardian (see link below), and it's abundantly clear there's no love lost between them.
But I hadn't been aware of the feud.

What IS Rushdie's proposed title? All I could find was this: First Published: 00:00 IST(23/2/2007)
"The new novel of internationally acclaimed British-Indian author and novelist Salman Rushdie would be a historical one, set in the 16th century that talks about the Mughal dynasty and draws comparison to its Italian counterpart.
"The book should hit the bookstores sometimes next year," Rushdie, while addressing a press conference here Sunday, said."

As far as the kniughthood, Le Carre was offered one but turned it down:
"He has turned down a number of awards, including a knighthood."
