No problem at all. The redtail is simply doing what all redtail catfish do, eating other fish. They get huge and that's almost all they eat, other fish.

That 100 Gallon tank will be WAY too small for your Redtail before he's grown. You will need something on the order of 1500 gallons at least to house an adult redtail catfish.

I actually did this, but I built the pond indoors. We used a regular pond filter, and submersable heaters. We put the heaters inside a rigid drainage tile so they didn't get eaten.(they are bright orange have several holes in them so it allowed the heated water to flow through it.) The pond filter was made by Tetra, and we used their rubber liner as well. We kept our guy for 15 years. He was 4" inches when we bought him, and he was 37" long when he died. Each week we used a Python gravel vacume to clean is pond, and fill it. The pattern I used was taken from a wooden deck book at a home improvement store. It was ment to be incorperated into a deck. I don't know how you would do this outside in your area, the evaporation would be major, not to mention the heat.

Your Red-tail is just doing what it has evolved over millenia to do, eat fish small enough to fit in its mouth.

Also your 100gallon tank is not going to hold it for long, a 240long is minimum space requirement for a Red-tail. They can top three feet easy.

they have huge mouths and HUGE appetites. i personally have seem ones over 4' in length. with a 10" wide mouth
500 gallons still probably won't keep one happy for life

Wow. That's not something you hear every day! I'm no sure what's happening, but I suggest you put it in another tank or somewhere alone if there are more fish in your tank.
