If he is, it just proves what I've been saying all along...the centers in the NBA totally suck...
The fact that Yao is even in the discussion (after all, he's been an all star) just demonstrates the mediocrity of NBA centers.

Yes, he is. Shaq is old and has a toe injury every year. Dwight Howard and Amare Stoudemire both can't guard any centers in the league, and Tim Duncan is a power forward regardless of what the Spurs website says.

Nah, he is pretty good, and he is the best center from China and one of the best foreign centers, but definitely not the best in the NBA. 5 centers that are better than him right now are: (In no particular order)
Shaq
Amare Stoudemire
Dwight Howard
Marcus Camby
Ben Wallace (Best defensive center no questions asked)

Yao isn't the best but he's definitely top 5.
I have Dwight Howard & Amare Stoudemire ranked higher than him. If Shaq is healthy, he is better but there are times when Yao is more capable than him.

No, and he will probably be delt the second-best deck for the rest of his career. Not that I don't love Yao, but right now Shaq has it down as best. In a few years, Oden will be the most dominant.

and there is a reason why everyone is saying
"Tracy can't do it by himself"
Yoa is definitely one of the better centers but he still has ALOT to improve on. especially on defense. there was a time during the season that the rockets were playing better WITHOUT yoa (because Mutombo is a WAY better than yoa on D)
