the answer is that the carpet will cost 47.53 (actually like 47.529... i rounded to the nearest hundredth) remember, 3 feet in one yard 8= 24ft.. 7=21ft. multiply 21 and 24 to get 404 and divide by 8.50

so you need to know how many foot are in a yard

1 yard = 3 feet
8x3=24 feet
7x3=21 feet

so room is 24 by 21 feet
area is 24x21=504
504X8.5=4284 dollers

basic formula:
1 yd = 3ft

1 sq yd = (1yd ) * (1 yd)
= (3 ft) * (3 ft)
= 9 ft * ft
1 sq yd = 9 sq ft

area of room = 8 yd * 7 yd = 56 sq yd
= 56 sq yd
= 56 * (1 sq yd)
= 56 * ( 9 sq ft)
= 504 sq ft

cost = 8.5 * 504 = $4,284.00
