It would be a lot more worthwhile if the actual sentencing system wasn't such a joke.
What is the point of spending all this money on high tech ways to catch people committing crimes if they then go to court and get 3 months probation or 2 weeks community service ?

I think that it is an excellent idea if criminal behavior is a consistant problem in the particular park. This hopefully will prevent crimes from being committed for fear of identification by video. If a crime IS committed, hopefully the camera will catch the criminal "in the act" and this will be enough to convict. I think it's a great idea. If people object to it, they need to remember that if they're ever a victim of a crime and live to tell about it, they'll hope there is a witness and if there is NOT a witness, I daresay they would be grateful if there was a video that would allow prosecutors to identify and convict the criminal.

It's perfectly legal and constitutional. There is no expectation of privacy in a public park, as long as they are not put up in the bathrooms or anything.

Well, I'm not a criminal - nor do I have any plans to become one. I am a law abiding citizen - so doesn't bother me at all.

If it helps put the leeches and thugs in jail---go for it.

I don't think we have a reasonable expectation of privacy in a public park. It doesn't bother me.

Why stop there? Why not network a dash-camera into everyone's car? That way the police can see who might be driving drunk, or picking his nose while driving (also illegal). If you're "not doing anything wrong", why would you object to this?

I personally agree with it. You aren't being seduced into a criminal act. You are merely being caught in the act.

Big brother and not necessary.

If the govt. wants to police the park better, then they should budget more police officers for rhe park.

I think if you're not doing anything wrong, what have you got to worry about? As long as they're not in my house or my back yard I don't really mind.
