Well I think it is! What is the point of it. It is sexist and offensive and just an inconvenience to us men. I have no access to the local pool on a Tuesday night because it is 'Ladies night'. Sheesh its 2007 and this is well out dated.

Why not have an over 50s night or an under 20s night - well that would be ageist. Why not have a whites only night or a blacks only night - that would be racist of course. So why does a Ladies night which is both sexist and discriminative to us men become any more acceptable?

It is just farcical in my opinion!

OMG ladies all together here isn't it. Can you really not see how offensive that is to say ladies only in a swimming pool? Mine does it the only 3 days out of the week men are able to use the pool late at night the only other day that swimming is available for me is a sunday evening when i am working so out of 7 days I am only ever able to go twice. And for you women to say its because the men ogle the ladies and make them feel uncomfortable is terribly offensive this is assuming all men are doing is going to ogle women in their bathing costumes. and we need to change our behaviour someone said. You having a laugh? I could pigeonhole women like that that you ever been on a hen night? and also there is places you can go for oral relief if you so wish. its just that woman prostitutes are a lot cheaper than men prostitutes I wonder what that says about a womans price? if there was a men only night there would be uproar its like loose women. if there was a loose men and it was guys talking bout who they fancied and stuff there would be uproar. Women only want equality when it suits them. and don't get me started on the religious aspect why should the rest of the community suffer because a small minority doesn't want to show their head to other men? should we cater for all religions? a muslim night then a catholic night they dont get on. whats next a black night then a whites only night? Do you know how bigoted you women that have answered a quite reasonable questions in an unreasonable biased manner. Its true that men and women enjoy different things and so would have men only or women only for certain things but swimming is one pleasure that both men and women can and do enjoy it is bang out wrong to seclude half the population because a few get nervous about being half naked thats their problem no one elses!!!!!!

I enjoy ladies night at my local pool I think they have it as a lot of women feel self concious in their swimming costume, I know what you mean though as my husband is pulling at my sleeve he has made the same point as you its totally unfair it the same as having a mother and baby morning at the pool but no father and baby morning its totally wrong, maybe if you asked at the pool cause a bit of a stink about it and get other men to back you up they might consider it as an option!

Women understand eachother without having to worry about the men. They can be themselves without having the competition of another man around. They experience all the same things in life from puberty, to adulthood, to motherhood. Same with the guys. If there are women there, there would be competition or being left out because of a female. What is wrong if you're just trying to have fun and talk about things men don't care about.

Social structure is highly important in life.

No matter who's at the party, and everyone is having a good time, why should you care?

At my local pool, you'll see a lot of Muslim women and older women at Ladies Only swims. As well as the religious aspect, women are a lot more bashful when it comes to their bodies.

Also, I ALWAYS get leched on at the swimming pool by old fat knackers in Speedos, and it really pisses me off. I can't help it if I'm gorgeous!

Anyway, how come there are only massage parlours for men? Why can't I go and get an 'intimate massage' for 20 quid? How about male-only saunas and bars within the gay community? You can even go and get a quick bit of oral from a stranger in a cottage, should you wish. Such activities for women are rare...

You men ought to start looking at yourselves and your behaviour before complaining!!

couldn't agree more what a waste of time, either swim or don't swim. Sadly I do know women who won't go just because they don't want to be seen in their costumes - get a life, no-one cares what you look like - swim faster and you'll just be a blur

Farcical because you are a man. Many women do not like to undress in front of men and are uncomfortable in a mixed environment. It is a service to the women not an act against men.

its not nonsense. its only for a night out of the week lol. i dont think its sexist. i agree with some of these answers: many women dont feel comfortable swimming in front of men. to be honest with you, as a woman myself, i dont feel the most comfortble in front of men(for many reasons) in a swimsuit even though my body looks fine. its a woman thing. please dont take it the wrong way. just plan something different for Tuesday night :).

Many women enjoy a swim but feel embarrassed to swim with men around for many reasons. Those who have had breasts removed due to breast cancer, for instance, do not want to be stared at by men. There are also many women who cannot swim with men for religious reasons.

You can go swimming seven days and six nights a week. Why can you not be tolerant and generous and allow women who prefer not to swim with men one night a week?
