colombia vs argentina 1993 who remembers?

I recently saw the game Arg v Colo how many countries in the world can say they have beaten Arg that way in a world cup Quilifing game so it was important. was it a fluke or real any body has a fact about that game and who was key in that game?

Colombia had a very good team at the time. But the score got to be that high because Argentina went on the attack and Colombia had a very fast counter attack. In the 1994 world cup, both countries had the better teams. But Colombia didn't know how to win, and that is very important. Note how Brazil, with a mediocre team, won the cup. Germany and Brazil know how to win. Argentina is the complete opposite. They always have the better players as a team, but they choke most of the time. After hose players retired ( Colombia), they never got to play at that level again.

I am Argentine, I remembered that game, I was very disappointed, but we can't be mad at all, because Colombia had a great team, and honestly I though that they were to win the World Cup, something that could have be awesome. Great team, that's it. The only think that I hate it is what happened with Escobar, it is something that until today I remembered.

Brings back awesome memories....

It was the first time Argentina allowed so many games at home for a world cup qualifier
Maradona ate his own words by saying Argentina is Up here.....Colombia Down Here....lol.....

The Colombian team was good and not a Fluke....They ended up first in the World Cup Qualifying without conceding a Loss.

....though at the end many would say the GoalScorers were key to that match.....Oscar Cordoba...the goalie was just incredible.....he had Batistuta so frustrated ...stopping all of his shots....so many times in that game that you felt Argentina was just going to score....but Colombia was resilient....slowly began dominating the game..and BAM.....5 Goals at the end of the night.....

Unfortunatly....this game also lead to our downfall....
Even though we did not lose any friendly game till the World Cup.....Colombian Team began to be Cocky..we were coined as the Favorites to win that World Cup...its like they felt they were just great.....When we were seeded for the 94 Cup.....We said it was an Easy group.....Romania , Switzerland and the USA......
And then we were shot back to Reality....Losing to Romania....Losing to the USA....where the unfortunate own goal of Escobar lead to his death when a disgruntle fan killed him in Colombia.....and we beat the Swiss....

It was just shocking to see this and the players admitted of the their *********....
If we were going to do great in any world cup....this was the one and we just couldn't do it.....
