All I know is the man could possibly be from the time of the Civil War (because he's in uniform), and we know nothing about the little girl ghost. I've tried online searching for obituaries for the area we live in but how will I know if it's the right people? For all we know it could possibly not be on record cause the house wasn't probably around then, they could have just died in a field. Any ideas to help me on where to start though? I really want to find out. They don't really seem to even know they're dead! Help!

Hmmmm....I would say, find the records of all the previous owners of the house with the county courthouse. They should have the records. (My house was built in 1884, and I can trace everyone who ever lived here.) That would be a place to start. Not sure where you live, but I assume someplace close to civil war battles. You can go to your county historical association and see if they have records of any battles that may have occurred near your MIL's home site. Like I said...At least it's a place to start. And honestly, that's what I'd do.

First of all, those are not ghosts. Those are violent entities referred as demons by christians and different names by every culture and religion. They were attracted by the very death of the lady. To tell whether your house is haunted or no, you will always feel someone watching you, the feeling that you are not alone. The house will always be cold, holding a depressed and unfriendly mood. If you have a spiritual belief in the other world or at least believe in the paranormal, you will realize that the majority of them are harmless at the beginning and try to mess around with your feelings --scare you-- but as time goes on, they become extremely violent. They can't walk through walls but can open doors, no matter how locked it is from the inside as if it was nothing. Most of them were either able to get in the house from their world, or enter from the open windows.

Okay, first of all, there's no need for alarm. Odds are, if there's nothing dangerous going on, or they're not interacting with objects in the house, then they're just benevolent spirits. I would suggest that if you do happen to see them again try to speak with them. Odds are, like you said, there's no record of who they are. I will say, however, you're more likely to find information on the little girl, seeing as how she's probably from a different time. I can't see why she'd be standing in a feild during a battle. There's generally been something out of the ordinary about their deaths, so I suggest you just do your research. If you can't seem to find any information, you'll just have to try to speak with them, or somehow communicate if you wish to find the meaning of all this. If it's not a matter of danger so much as curiosity, and they aren't harming anything, it won't be terribly horrid if you just let them be. If you have any other questions, feel free to e-mail me.

It's not a Steven King novel. You seem to have found no record, maybe there is no paper trail to why they are their. Just be understanding and accept that you cannot explain away every problem. Give them their space.

Ghosts aren't real, trust me. DEMONS ARE. These are demons, and if you both are disturbed by them that's really interesting. Have you actually seen these "Ghosts?" They aren't ghosts. They are demons of Satan if they are real. My Mother and Aunt have both seen them,as well as my friends father and cousin. God is very powerful. You do not want "them" there. "Go away in Jesus's name. Go where Jesus sends you." -I have been told to say something along those lines if something like that happens... YOU DO NOT WANT TO GET INTO THIS. DO NOT call a physcic. That's the worst thing to do. =) God bless!

It might be just one ghost guy who sometimes cross dresses as the girl. That would help your search.

I think if you check carefully and ask all the neighbors you will eventually be called "that wacko our neighbor's son married." That obviously is not very desirable but it is the unavoidable result of ghost hunting.

Call or e-mail Ghost Hunters or TAPS.
You could also call a local psychic.
