It looks like it will be the last World Bowl for NFL Europe. The NFL is planning to shut down NFL Europa. Apparently the NFL lost $32 million this season on the league.

I know it's chump change for the multi-billion dollar league, but I guess they just don't want to lose money and get no or minimal benefits. They should reinvest that money into the pension and health care funds for retired players (the Congress hearings were today).

Otherwise, it's another failed attempt to popularize girdiron football outside the NFL and USA. Until the sport is popular among the locals and most of the players were born or raised locally, how can the NFL expect the sport to be popular in Europe???

It's the soccer syndrome in reverse. Soccer's lack of popularity is due to the lack of star American players in MLS and the league's perceived inferiority to European leagues.

What do you think Europeans think of NFL Europa? A bunch of American football players who can't make NFL rosters... They will sell out stadiums to watch Miami vs NY Giants, but not for Hamburg vs. Frankfurt.

Oh is that when they held it? Yeah I remember when that was televised on network TV. So what it is on NFL Network now? Well at least something good came from that network.
