Or are they political hacks who would trade thier mother for a seat of power?
The far-right Washington Times noted the ongoing hostility between the White House and congressional Republicans over immigration policy today, and touched on a point that I haven’t seen elsewhere.
Conservative leaders among House Republicans say that President Bush’s upcoming showdown with them on immigration could threaten support for the Iraq war as well as for the president’s other top policy goals.
“The White House should keep in mind that if they have a direct confrontation with House Republicans on [immigration], it could affect the vote on the Iraq appropriation in September,” said Rep. Peter T. King, New York Republican.
Is that so?
You mean it’s possible that House Republicans’ support for the president’s tragic war policy might have something to do with partisan loyalties, instead of sincere beliefs about the best way forward? I thought you were with us or against us, Guess it just BS afterall

All this talk about the immigration bill in the Senate means nothing, it can pass and it won't matter, It's DOA when it reaches the house. House republicans are pissed and rightly so. Our President hasn't begun to see the wrath he will face there if it gets out of the Senate. Rep. King is going to play hardball and a few other ranking members will be right behind him. How can we talk about the security of our country when we are talking about letting millions of illegals stay? Where is the rule of law? Where is the patriotism for the troops? Is the GOP about to explode? Republicans took a beating after Nixon but this is an utter meltdown. I never thought I would live to see the day the republican party imploded. What a great President!!!

Ever since that report came out about how republicans with a similar war policy as Bush have a highly likely chance of losing support, I've noticed lots of them are changing their tunes. :P

The percentage of people that still support Bush is about the same percentage that voted for him, twice.
