You have very good reason to be worried that Bearshare will mess up your computer because it comes with a bunch of Adware and spyware. As well there are thousands of viruses that circulate on these peer to peer networks. Get your music from legitimate trustworthy sources like iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody or walmart.com and you won't have to worry about adware, spyware, viruses or the RIAA coming to sue you.

I heard that running more than one anti virus program at the same time canceled out the other.. I was running Norton and AVG and got a Trojan horse virus. Also those free music share programs are loaded with viruses. I used to have LimeWire and I didn't get into any trouble except for the Trojan Horse.

Get frostwire, at frostwire.com stay away from downloading files that say track 1 etc, those have the problems but also show the most puters to download from. ONly get the files that say the exact song title, 2-15 is enough to get a good copy quick. After downloading run a virus scan to be sure

That form of sharing is extremely out dated.

Research Bit Torrent or IRC or Direct Connect (DC++).
You may have to learn something but I garuntee you'll get less viruses and higher quality downloads.
