How difficult to replace a geabox by DIY?

Question

I have a 1998 ford mondeo 2.0 whose gearbox is burn out caused by the leakage of gearbox. The garage told me that it will cost me 1200 pounds to fix it. That's very expensive for me. I find a used gearbox from Internet, but there's no one garage which is willing to replace it with my gearbox. Can I replace it by myself or it's too difficult for me ? thanks.

This is a major job. if you've got to ask, .........
Without a lift, it's well nigh impossible.
Best try to find a pro who will do it.
(He may reasonably refuse to guarantee the replacement box as he didn't provide it.)
