If you like Avril Lavigne then that makes somebody, and in your case the only one who matters. People put too much stock in the opinions of others.

Well, I'm a bit older than you - I was in 6th grade in 2003-2004. But I remember some of the same things! I do remember everybody talking about people "going out" (and looking back now it just seems so silly!). I remember how a lot of kids were starting to go to the mall by themselves with friends (no parents with them) but unfortunately my mom was very overprotective and she wouldn't let me because she thought I would get abducted. :/ I thought it seemed like so much fun though, to finally navigate the mall all by yourselves! I also remember AIM! My best friend and I talked on there all the time. This was obviously a few years before Soulja Boy came out, but I definitely remember the popular music that year - Maroon 5 and the Black Eyed Peas were what everyone listened to. Honestly though, I don't think most kids had cell phones yet then. haha. Right around 8th grade or the beginning of high school seemed to be when most kids started getting them.

If that were true then she wouldn't still be making music. It's true that some people don't like her, but alot of people do. Don't listen to your friend. If you like Avril Lavigne then keep the background, after all, it's supposed to reflect your taste, not your friends.

If it's your taste, there's nothing wrong with it. I'll admit I listen to Avril even though she made a drastic change, she just became more like her true self. It doesn't matter if people think she's a poser or whatever, what matters is that you like and can in some way relate to her music. Music shouldn't be criticized because it's a form of art and different people have different tastes.

Umm only little 12 year old girls with no brains like Avril Lavigne. Older, smarter people would realize that she was a poser and now she's changed even that skater poser image into a girly-girl image, which somehow makes her diverse? The record companys order her around and tell her what's hot and what's not, and in turn everybody gets rich off of the latest trends.

Its true. Avril is a SELL OUT now. Fake and her music sucks...not that it was ever fantastic but it was better.
If you still like her though, you shouldn't let your friend tell you what to do, it's your choice, if you want her as your background on myspace then thats your choice, after all its called "myspace" not "myfriendsspace"

No it's not true, millions of people like Avril, and there are few that don't. If you like her then keep the background, it's your choice in music and artists. Don't listen to what others have to say.Stay true to yourself and yourlikes and dislikes

That's definitely not true. Out of all the people in this whole entire world? Yes, at least one person does like her. And you do, so that makes more than one. She changed, and her music is more pop now, but I still think she's okay. But I'm ANTI-Myspace, so I don't know what to tell you about that. As someone said before, if you're not rich and famous, you have no business insulting anyone who is. And it's pretty weird to hate or dislike someone you don't even know, lol.
