If you have the power settings selected so that the CPU runs slower (and generates less heat as a result) when it is not as busy you can make it stay cooler longer.

I assume you are talking about it getting so warm that it is blowing out hot air. That is normal and how it keeps from really getting overheated. It can run night and day like that without damage.

True overheat would be if you stood it on a pillow or a blanket that blocked the air vents. Then you would see what real overheating is about.

I can run mine for 1 -3 hours ( mine has a small fan) but if you get a simple machine that you can buy from 50 to 100$ you can make it run almost a full 14 hrs

I've heard people say they've left theirs on for a day or more. Usually, though, I say 8 hours is long enough. I hate having my laptop in more than 6 as it is, but after 8 I always shut it down completely and wait a few hours.

What the poster above me said. If would completely depend on the model, fans, programs running, any addons, any updates, how good it is. etc, etc. Mine personally, would be around an hour, but I still play while it's hot, because it will cool down eventually ><

Mind you, I run tons of programs while I'm on it xD

I use mine for 10-12 hours per day. No problems. But, I had a heavy-duty fan installed.

Depends more on the internal components, if you have a really fast processor and equally fast GPU - then not long otherwise if you have a reasonable CPU and GPU you would be able to use it longer.

A long time. Get a cooling pad for it.
