From what I've seen, the PS3 hasn't exactly been selling out. Are you confusing the PS3 with the Wii and XBox360 supplies?

As for the iPhone, I would expect supply to be adequate as most people already have a cell phone plan and are willing to wait until their current plan expires. The iPhone will only be available with AT&T for service (believe they have a 5 year exclusive rights contract) so take into account that people have plans with other companies too and may not be willing to switch. I know in my case that I'm on Verizon (curse them for turning down the Apple deal for iPhone two years ago) and switching would affect calling just about all my family as they have Verizon too.

The first shipment should be sold out by this weekend. I visited 2 stores today: 1 AT&T and 1 Apple store. At 7:30 pm Friday evening, the AT&T store was out of all iphones. So I went to an Apple store 10 miles away. When I got there at 8:00 pm, they were down to their last 4GB iphone. This info is for Silicon Valley, CA.

As the date gets closer, people saying no sell out are changing their minds. Yes Sell-out. Existing customers might not have to wait for contract to expire. Besides you can pay out your contract. Someone buying a $600 phone can tack on a couple extra contract bucks.
