Maybe he now realizes..........
Where the Bishop is, there let the multitude of believers be;
even as where Jesus is, there is the Catholic Church'' Ignatius of Antioch, 1st c. A.D

The 1829 Catholic Emancipation Act has a clause that says no civil or military adviser to the sovereign can be a Catholic. There is a debate about whether this applies to the post of PM, but as Blair had to advise the Queen on some appointments within the Church of England, e.g. the appointment of new bishops, it was thought unwise for Mr Blair to declare himself a Catholic while in office. Furthermore it would have complicated the negotiations over the Northern Irish peace process, especially given Ian Paisley's past comments.

Because it would have restricted his involvement in certain legislation like Gay Rights, Abortion and anything else the Catholic church considers a sin.
Plus this England is predominately Christian so more votes.
Now that he has pushed them through for everyone else he can go to confession and be forgiven for them. Including leading the British into a war on the grounds of deception.
Conscience clear, would be funny if it was not tragic

This has been widely know in the UK for a long time..he is converting to join his RC wife...why he did not do it before has nothing to do with the monarchy and constitution? but more the underlying dislike for catholics that goes back 100s of years and the possible repercussions to a failing party at the polls.

Obviously, the PMship would have brought conflicts of interests.
ie.His laws regarding gay parenting rights and abortion are contrary to the teaching of the catholic church.
The boys got some brass neck to time the conversion to catholicism exactly at the time he leaves office.
I only hope the vatican doesnt bend its principles to accommodate the great bender of principles(sic).

no, i really don't know what you mean. and a catholic can be primeminister - duh!
Perhaps he sees that this is in some way usefull to him. I mean, he has been chumming up to the pope for a while now, perhaps he hopes peace envoy will be followed by a more vatican-lead role that will earn him the peace prize he seems to want (though not deserve). Who knows, perhaps now he is going to the middle east, he will convert to islam, to try and persuade people he isn't that bad, though i doubt they will care what religion he is.

Great question... but if the premise is why is he to become Catholic after 10 years.. then you are wrong... because he is a lot older than 10 isn't he... and to the best of my knowledge he has always been a Christian. QED... he is becoming Catholic after a lot longer than 10 years.
And as for the rest of your waffle... No... I haven't a clue what you are on about!
Give us all a clue!

Politics. Unfortunately, many Brits are still prejudiced against Roman Catholics.
Good on him for converting.
