Solve and equation and check your solution.?

√x+4=3

I also wanted to thank everyone that helped me out last week, although I failed the test, some of the help I recieved from yahoo answer members was correct.

√x + 4 = 3 => √x + 4 - 4 = 3 - 4 => √x = -1 => (√x)^2 = (-1)^2 => x = 1

√x+4=3
√x = 3 - 4
√x = -1
no solution because the sqrt always positive

I wonder if equation is meant to read:-
√(x + 4) = 3
x + 4 = 9
x = 5
