I don't know why so many people on Yahoo! Answers think bettas are Japanese Fighting Fish. They are Siamese Fighting Fish but I must have read that they are Japanese at least five or six times.

Anyway, it's possible that your betta is just getting bored of the blood worms. Bettas love variety in their diet. Besides, blood worms aren't a great idea to feed your betta every day. They're very rich and the freeze-dried variety can cause constipation very easily. I suggest you feed your betta pellets as a staple (make sure they are made for bettas, like Hikari Bio-Gold or HBH Betta Bites...they have the right protein content for carnivores like bettas) and treats like blood worms, mosquito larvae or daphnia twice a week.

It's not uncommon for bettas to get bored of food that they are fed every day. They are picky eaters. Try to mix it up a little. If not, fast your betta - don't feed him for maybe 3 days (don't worry, they can live for up to a week without food) and he should be fine soon.

(By the way, unless you are doing complete water changes every other day, you might want to upgrade him to a larger tank.)

i would say that he just got used to the feeding schedule and that you shouldnt be concerned. Its a good thing that he still responds when you enter the room. Back to the feeding thing, He expects you to feed him since u stated that u've had him for almost a month. Assuming that you havent changed anything then i wouldnt be concerned. Also if your tank is large enough i think you said 1 gallon tank then try adding eaither a plant or some colorful "Toy" which you can attach to the bottom of the tank for him to play with and also look at. This might increase his attention to food and also this way he is less likely to die prematurly

That's normal! Bettas are aggressive fish, also known as Japanese Fighting Fish, they sometimes have extra energy to burn and will churn around in their bowl. They can also get excited when they see you and anticipate worms. I had them growing up and some would just sit there and not move an inch while others would make you think the water was going to spill out! With the worms, you can feed them with a tweezers and move them in the water so that they will see them. I think we fed them as many as they would eat in five minutes or something. You are a very good fish owner keeping him so scheduled!

It's normal for them to slow down and calm down about the feeding as they get used to a regular feeding schedule. I would suggest you feed him a few more worms each feeding though. Feed him as many as he will eat in 3-4 minutes twice a day.

He may have too much swimming room; has his tail gotten shorter? Maybe the water-have you replaced old water with new water? Perhaps he's an older fish and it's his time? Call the pet shop and see what they have to say; good luck!

Your betta might be losing sense in his nose, there for he might not notice the food because of lack of smell.
