Can anyone list some of the things to avoid that can make you fail your road test?

All I can suggest is that you read that little manual they give out at the DMV. They have some odd questions about passing vehicles & turning & who has the right of way. Also lots of strange questions about lighting conditions & when to use your headlights/foglights, etc.

uh, just drive safe, go the speed limit, keep your hands on the wheel, use your turn signals, come to complete stops, check your mirrors when appropriate.
Other than that just make sure you do well when parking and backing and stuff, all the little things to loose points can add up. Remember to stop and look all around before backing around a corner and practice parallel parking.

Obey the speed limit.
Do not run a read (or yellow) light.
Know how to parallel park and three point turnabout.
Both hands on the steering wheel (leave the radio off).
That's all I remember....
