Chuckle, yes, I live in Texas & some afternoons we'd watch them in the distance to see which way they'd go before jumping in the car to go 90 degrees from the direction the tornado was moving.

Tornadoes have occured in every state, even Hawaii. In Connecticut, we've had lots of smaller tornadoes, the most recent about a month ago. Large category 5 tornadoes generally only occur in inland plains areas where a lot of thermal energy can gather and no oceans are nearby.

I grew up in the Texas panhandle, and lived in Oklahoma and Kansas. I've actually been IN one yet survived no worse for wear despite the fact that ALL of the glass in the car I was driving imploded into a million pieces. If its Spring, its tornado season!

I live in CT. and we had an F-4 in Windsor locks where Bradley International Airport is, but that was 30 yrs ago.I live in the next town over from where it occured. We get an occasional stray one here and there, but not anything like the plaines states and the south. Gots to Luv New England for that!

I'm in Illinois - I was in one - what an experience. Out house was the only one in it's path that didn't get blown to bits. We think it lifted just momentarily as it went by our house. It did blow windows in and left a couple of feet of water in the house. Houses all around us were either gone or had their roofs ripped off. I ended up with cuts all over from shattering glass. My brother had a picture window blow in on top of him, he had the 2 biggest black eyes I have ever seen.
